I am a personal trainer in Canterbury, specialising in calisthenics and bodyweight training.
Calisthenics is as old as the Greek Empire and has been practiced by cultures all over the world for centuries. It is the purest way of getting in shape, and all you need is your own body and strength of mind. Nothing works better.
Being a gymnast from a young age, this has enabled me to build a solid foundation of knowledge when it comes to mastering your own body with little or no equipment. I’ve been personal training in and around Canterbury since 2012.
My training methods are progressive, dynamic and most importantly fun.
Calisthenics comes from two Greek words: kalos, beautiful, and sthenos, strength. This name pretty much sums up what this sport is all about. Calisthenics, which is also often dubbed a ‘street workout’ owing to the fact that it commonly takes place outside, is a creative form of training that takes place with minimal equipment. Instead, through body tension and your bodyweight, complex training sessions can be carried out. Building up strength and having fun when training are always main priorities.
The great thing is that thanks to the great choice of exercises Calisthenics Training is suitable for virtually every individual: in this way beginners can practise Calisthenics without a problem, there are however units that are clearly more demanding, where the greatest possible body control and body tension is necessary. As a general rule, you can do the exercises at any time, in any place. It doesn’t matter if you are at home, travelling, in the garden or in the park, you can train whenever and wherever suits you.
What is more, Calisthenics is the ideal way to achieve your various training goals, like muscle gains, improved fitness or better body image and control. At the same time there are also lots of gentle exercises, which are brilliant ways to rehabilitate your body, for example to combat back pain. Calisthenics also offers impressive possibilities for preventative training to prevent injuries or other health complaints.
I’ve been training with Terry for over 3 months now and it has been a great experience. He built a plan around my goals and limitations and we’ve been making progress from week 1. I have always been a bit nervous in the gym as I didn’t really know what I was doing, since I started training with Terry I haven’t felt this at all. He talks you through each exercise and gives you the confidence and proper technique to feel comfortable and start making changes. Nothing short of an excellent experience and I would recommend him to anyone interested in personal training.
Excellent, bespoke training and outstanding customer service. Do not book anywhere else! No question is too silly, no problem is too big or small. Terry is the ultimate professional and listens and understands exactly what you’re trying to achieve. Just go for it, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
I met Terry before Christmas, enjoyed the little trial I had with him, so went for a collection of PT sessions. I was a complete newbie and he was great at developing sessions that improved my confidence, fitness and strength. Since finishing the PT sessions, he’s also been helpful with occasional advice when I see him in the gym. He’s really nice guy, always fun to work with and really encouraging, so highly recommend. I’m looking forward to when I’ll next be available to get some more sessions booked!
“A great personal trainer. It’s only been a month and I’m already able to start changing my wardrobe. I’ve learnt so much and feel so much more confident. Terry educates you as well as trains. I’ve hired personal trainers in the past when I lived in London and received what I would call a pretty standard service but I find Terry’s approach very original, refreshing and effective. He is very personable. I have already recommended him to friends.”
“Terry is a fantastic personal trainer who makes you feel at ease from the start. He is great at making you feel like you can do anything and pushes you to achieve it. Personable and inspirational, he is a driven personal trainer who really cares about his clients progress. I would happily recommend him to anyone wanting a personal trainer to help them achieve their fitness goals or even to get them started along the right track.”
